Exactly.  Too often people rely on RAID as an alternative to backups.  

When discussing backups with clients I often start the discussion with 
something like "So you get call at 3am that the server and all of the on 
site tapes and documentation have been completely destroyed ... now what? 
..."

Those are the terms in which disaster recovery needs to be considered.
