OCLUG has some ubuntu CDs - if that method will work I can give
you one. It is a single CD (as opposed to the Debian releases
which were more comprehensive and filled many CDs).

The basic install was from a CD I downloaded from one of the listed
mirror sites, I belive it was from a site run by colegico cable.

I am on a NCF supplied DSL line so I should be getting quite a bit of
bandwidth, and in this process I have occasionaly seen bursts at 200kbs.
then 0 bits for a couple of minutes, - after which I guess it retries
and I get some download again.

I am wondering if BELL has decided that I need some throtling in my life?

I've been noticing a number of drastic random slowdowns on my DSL line the last couple of days (Teksavvy) so I wonder if it's something systemic on Bell's system? At one point yesterday I lost all HTTP, SMTP and POP for about half an hour, while pings continued to work just fine. I'm in the west end of Ottawa.
