I got Mary a Samsung SCX 4521FG multi-function printer/scanner/fax box,
mainly to save desk space. Installed the Samsung Linux driver (one of
the reasons for buying, since Samsung actually provides this).
Unfortunately, her Ubuntu Dapper doesn't find the scanner, either in the
Samsung Driver "Configurator" nor in Xsane. If I plug in the "old"
scanner it is found. Print functions seem OK.
I also tried from my new Acer (Edgy 6.10). Same problem.
Going into command mode,
sane-find-scanner DOES find the scanner and give its USB address etc.
that seems to match usbview output.
But
scanimage -L
says it cannot "identify" any scanners.
Anyone any experience or advice in this area?
