Is Canada's 15th province acting like an authoritarian state? Do they treat dissident and minority groups in an authoritarian way? Do they treat Canada like Austria, a runaway part of the DadaLand? If someone in the DadaLand decides you are in a "dissident adjacent" group, such as all thinking people, some corp/department could hire a company/person to turn loose an eh-iy to "investigate" that group. 1. Read email from you anywhere. 2. Find IP address 3. Attack that network appliance 4. Attack all devices on that network 5. Found another router in that net? Repeat 3. 6. Listen on all hacked routers. If you have not taken specific, fairly expensive care to install a third party device, you are (I am) using the cheapest router (my) ISP could find. Just recycling the obvious. Nothing new here.
