I am 5% semi-seriously considering moving*myself* to The Netherlands.
Ik ben Nederlands aan het leren... dat is mijn Plan B...
Ik ook hou van Nederland.
Maar ik niet al lang hep mijn Nederlands geproberden en ik niet ben
ein Nederlander.
(I too love the Netherlands. But I haven't practiced my Dutch for a
long time and I've got no Dutch ancestry.)
I think trying to learn Chinese has pushed all Dutch out of my head.
I heb er 10 jaar gewoond. Ik ben ook geen Nederlander, maar het
Nederlands blijft hangen.
(I lived there for 10 years. I'm also not Dutch, but my Dutch lingers)
When I've had to call Dutch pension people I'm surprised by how much
Dutch is still lurking in my brain. Though I keep dropping in French
words. My brain only does "English" and "Foreign", and my output
algorithm isn't good at differentiating different "Foreigns".
Dianne - If the itch doesn't go away, I'd recommend reading "The
UnDutchables". It is all true, and a good starting point.
