Meeting Announcement
Linux-Ottawa Sepetember 1 2022 Meeting.
(with Professional Development Club of the University of Ottawa)
Date/Time: September 1st at 7pm
Format: Hybrid (Online over Jitsi, and In-Person at the University of Ottawa, room STM STM 364
(but watch for possible changes in case a better venue can be found)room to be announced)

We are hoping to add a virtual component / hybrid meeting.
Program: 1. Introduction from the Professional Development Club
2. Short talk from Katie McMillan “Electronic Medical Record Systems in Canada” (high level overview)
-What are EMR systems?
-Why isn't everyone using the same system?
-What are the different systems that provinces/territories are using?
-Who is doing the vetting?
3. 30 minute talk from Dr. David Chan “Introducing an Open Source EMR: OSCAR EMR” He will introduce these eHealth
concepts and how Open Source tools (especially Linux) guided the development:
Electronic Medical Records (OSCAR) Personal Controlled Personal Health Record (KindredPHR) Computerized Clinical Decision Support (Know2Act) Consumer Health Products and Internet of Things 4. (Time permitting) Short talk from Prof Nash “F/LOSS Appreciation”
