It's an intercept module that goes between the computer's video
output and the monitor's video input. It snoops on the stream of
video data going to the monitor, re-encodes it, and streams it
over its data output connection to a host computer. The host
doesn't need to be the computer that is generating the video data,
so in JF's situation he could record a high-quality video of the
Ventoy boot up process using a completely separate computer.

I think that the little iCan device might work, although since it
doesn't seem to have a video pass-through connector JF would have
to use the video data stream going to the computer doing the
recording as the "monitor", rather than an actual physical
monitor.
That is, we're capturing output to HDMI "screen".

capture for demonstrations. I realized I will not be able to
demonstrate Ventoy running while booting, unless I convert a
physical USB device to an ISO file and try (!) to use it
within a VM. But if I can capture the output from an external
device, I will be able to save it for future, but also for
live demo of about anything I want to show.

Any good or bad experiences with such devices under Linux ? I
did a quick Google search and it looks like there are several
devices, actually too many options to be able to properly
select.

My requirements are:

- Must run with Linux
- Need to be an external device
- Need to connect on USB 3
- Need an output port to connect to a monitor

Thanks :-)
