As a non-technical type, I am very much in need of some help with a problem that started yesterday. Last month, I bought a new computer and had Mint 20.2 installed (and the latest Firefox version). All was fine until yesterday. I noticed the update box was showing updates to be installed, so I did so. Once completed, I was instructed to reboot the system, which I did. After the reboot was complete, I noticed a message in the upper right screen corner "Disconnected from network". I have never had that happen before. I tried rebooting again, then I shut down the system entirely, but still had the same message. I checked the connection icon at the bottom of the screen but it kept saying disconnected and to check connections. This made no sense, the system had been working perfectly until I installed the updates. After that, I switched back to my old computer with Mint 17. Both computers are connected to a Switch Kit. My old system was working fine, thankfully! Later on, I switched back to the new system and the problem had escalated in that the screen seemed frozen. I could not enter my password, or gain access at all. The screen displayed the last background image that was on screen when the problem started, but that's all. The password entry line was blinking but the password could not be entered. And that is how it remains today. Could all this have been caused by the update install? It certainly started after the install but I suppose it could be a coincidence. However that would be quite a coincidence considering the system was working perfectly until the install. Any input would be appreciated. I have no idea what to do. Marlene Harris
