Yes some workplaces only allow access via hardware they provide. Others have policies that while you are tunnelled into work on a PC you own, you are not to enable split tunnelling. It is not just CYA. It is being serious about security. Security is a lot more than just a good firewall. Anyway don't shoot the messenger. Just saying be sure of your workplace policies before doing this.
