Yes, there is a browser interface as well. Might even be linked on the screen somewhere. Sorry for missing the meeting, I fell asleep. It has been a long week with early days and late nights. We will use IRC for the next attempt, so I suppose it could be done pretty much any time, but it would be easier to do it at the beginning of the next meeting. There are a lot of IRC clients, given that is has been around forever (1988). Having a few weeks before the next meeting will give people time to get a client and attempt connecting. I will add a wiki item that has the details, although it is probably already in there somewhere, maybe in multiple places. This will be linked on the main page.
