There are slack lists for oclug and its board. We run some Board meetings on Slack and it has been quite easy to use. Earlier we were on IRC, which I would rate AT THE TIME as being much less convenient. The "at the time" may be important, as I've not tried it for a few years with a more modern interface app. This is most likely an issue of the interface vs. underlying protocol. For Board meetings it's useful to have a clean interface that lets us see the discussion that is happening, and also a log for the Secretary to use to build minutes. But here I'm looking only at the "Board Meeting" issue, which is a short term, several people at once sort of thing. For general discussion, I'm not sure Slack is useful or appropriate.
