Hi Robert

I have had luck with an AWS virtual server. It is free for the first year, and will likely be cheap after that. The minumum config is more than enough for what I do.

The only reliability problem was when they pushed out a critical security patch in August and I had to restart it manually.

Your other option is that many list members have a server in their basement, some with impressive uptimes. Why did you specify local?

cheers

Rick

i just learned that my long-time host for crashcourse.ca is shutting

suggestions for (preferably) local, reliable hosts that OCLUG members
can vouch for.

right now, my site crashcourse.ca consists mainly of my e-mail, and
a wiki where i write lots of notes to myself and others. the main page
is currently drupal-based (and badly needs upgrading), but beyond
that, not much more.

so, recommendations for local hosting to which i can move this?
thanks.
