For the last few versions of Ubuntu, I was having increasingly more problems getting a remote desktop working properly from a Windows client. Here's my problem: I have serveral Ubuntu-based computers (Desktop edition, not server), and those are virtual ones, running on a remote box. Although I can do many things using the CLI, there are times where I need the GUI, from a Windows-based client. I tried the NX-based solution, with not much success (also the client was flagged as infected by our andi-virus). I also tried the straight RDP client, using the xrdp service installed under Ubuntu. In both cases, I was ending up with a blank desktop, without even a button to log out. I had to ssh to remotely kill the process. What is recommended for such setup ? Thanks :-) JF --- Le code source libre c'est l'ouverture de l'esprit. Open Source is open minded.
