I just joined your group through meetup. Just an introduction...
I am a C++ and PHP programmer. My background is 15 years C/UNIX
development followed by 15 years C++/Window&UNIX development. I also
started using PHP in 1999. I'm currently a Drupal/PHP consultant, and
also write scientific software in C++ which I host on my own website
(using fastcgi, BTW).
Though I worked on UNIX for years, and also developed websites hosted on
Linux for years, I really did no *nix admin work during those 30 years.
I have recently taken to trying to get a greater understanding of
setting up and administering an ubuntu server. Its running, but I have a
lot more to learn.
I actually searched for your group hoping to meet people that can help
me fine tune my Linux server skills.
Is it appropriate to ask whether there are people in this group offering
one-on-one server setup help (for pay), so that I could learn more from
the process?
