Thanks for the feedback. I think pdf is probably the best way to go. This particular teacher was totally inflexible and insisting on .doc. I suspect if he had been given a pdf he wouldn't have known the difference and it would have been OK, but who knows? I'm going to follow this up with the school and suggest they educate their teachers to be more flexible. John
