Re: [OCLUG-Tech] Throwing a Linux Event for Students, would you like to attend?

I do not  know if Ottawa U has change it polices regarding Open source technology. But a couple of years ago I was taking a course (CSI 1306) and I was told I could only hand in my assignments  in Microsoft Office  formats. I brought Ms  Office then couple of week went by. Then my pride got the best of me. I said to self wait a minute I signed up for a course that supportively support Open source Technology and  if hand my assignments with open office I get penalize,  I was going to go to the student union with this  issue. I  had a family issue come up and I did not pursue my studies and this issue. I am going back to school next year in BC  and I hope I will be able to use my Openoffice and other open source technology

I'm sure some of us can come. I'll be there for an hour or so -- unfortunately I am
calling a dance that night in Kanata, so won't be able to stay full time.

Best,
