I configured sendmail to use rogers as a smart host for outbound mail, so that it doesn't molest the From: headers. Inbound mail is more of a problem for me because rogers decided to block port 25. I have found another service to relay to a different port.
Although I haven't set this up for myself, my understanding is that you want to use 'fetchmail'. I've been told that fetchmail acts as mail client to retrieve the mail then it turns around (acts as an mta) and delivers the retrieved mail to your local sendmail. This gets around the port 25 problem.
