I now use my laptop's 'mute' keyboard button for this purpose, and my
USB keyboard's 'sleep' button.  "hotkeys" is the program I use to
enable that, since I was already using it for the other keyboard
hotkey things.

Then all you need is a script to do the actual switch.  I can post
mine if you're interested.
