Those /dev/null.* files look like they've got something in them. Cat
one of them and see what they say. That'd be a start.

My money is on some rogue script with a typo in it.

All I see is the output of the internet dialer...which I normally fire up as soon as I login. That is the only thing that worked first time when I installed this fairly new system, I still have not got the printer to work.. (and I consider that I promote linux more than I know how to admin linux)
