Re: Self-hosting? (was Re: email service)

See: https://oneuptime.com
Awesome domain name, but it is not clear who or what they want to "One Up".

Ah - nope, it's all about some AI to support Up Time.

When things go wrong, be the first to know, and the fastest to fix.

When something breaks at 2:47 AM, OneUptime catches it in seconds, pages the right person, updates your status page, finds the root cause, and opens the fix PR. Downtime costs you minutes, not customers.

So now we have open source AI telling you what is wrong and how to fix it.
Nice target for someone with the time to take the challenge.

Alice - cleaning a basement before landlord fixes results of July 1 flood. Again.

How difficult is it to have the MX host on a different machine than
the IMAP server?

Not hard. I just configured the email routing on the MX host to route
mail for my domains (eg, "skoll.ca") to the IMAP server in my house.

I use Sendmail on my MX host for legacy reasons, but nowadays I'd use
Postfix instead and there are many tutorials for setting up rules to
route mail for a specific domain to a specific machine. For example:

My IMAP server runs Postfix and Dovecot.

Dianne.
