Sorry to be late to reply, I hope it arrives in time to be useful. As you might remmember, I used to do kernel work for local company Lumenera on Linux-based ethernet surveillance cameras such as the le375c, le575c and still have a couple in service. I've started replacing them with Reolink offerings. I'm using a number of Reolink PoE cameras: qty sale reg savings model loc . 2 60 79 24 510a gables https://reolink.com/product/rlc-510a/ . 2 105 140 25 81pa rooftop https://reolink.com/ca/product/rlc-81pa/ . 2 112 170 34 811a yard https://reolink.com/product/rlc-811a/ . 2 132 165 20 843a front https://reolink.com/ca/product/rlc-843a/ . 1 121 180 33 duo2poe lane https://reolink.com/product/reolink-duo-poe/ . 1 119 170 30 fe-p garage https://reolink.com/ca/product/fe-p/ I'm probably being naive in allowing somewhat firewalled access to them from the internet on individually routable IPs https and rtsp. One is currently taking 5-minute time-lapse images of the complete tear-down and rebuild of our covered front porch and balcony. One is facing northern lights, another is facing parliament, fireworks and snowbirds. Reolink also has wireless cameras that work essentially the same way with a variety of power and local storage options. > mostly, i wanted something that i could put out on the deck and > which would, if i heard some sort of animal ruckus out there, allow me > to in real time view what was happening; that's it. but it seems that > almost everything requires uploading to the cloud, so the > manufacturers can make money on annual subscriptions for storing your > data for you. I have no accounts to set up except on my own servers. Once the camera is set up with port 9000 from windows or mobile device, shut off that port and leave the other two. You should be able to completely firewall off these cameras without affecting their usefulness. > that's a show-stopper for me -- i want something for which *nothing* > leaves my home network. the canada computers guy suggested this one: > > https://www.canadacomputers.com/en/security-cameras/193911/eufy-cam-pro-2k-smart-outdoor-ip-camera-with-spotlight-white-t8441121.html > > so i bought it but haven't opened it yet, going to read the manual > first. but can anyone refer me to other possibilities? I've had some minor skirmishes with Reolink support, but everything it working as I like now. > rday slainte mhath, RGB -- Richard Guy Briggs -- ~\ -- ~\ <hpv.tricolour.ca> <www.TriColour.ca> -- \___ o \@ @ Ride yer bike!
