prepping to teach a first-level red hat admin course here in town
next week and, for the sake of efficiency (and laziness), i'm going to
use some of red hat's superb online manuals, and here's an oddity i
just ran across.

  here:

https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6-Beta/html/Logical_Volume_Manager_Administration/VG_remove_PV.html

one is told that "pvdisplay" will indicate whether a physical volume
is currently in use, and if you look at the output there, you can see
the line:

  PV Status available

but if i use that command on both ubuntu and fedora, i don't get that
line of output. is anyone else using LVM that can run that command and
see if their output matches what's on that page of the RH manual? i
just don't see a "PV Status" line (or a "PV#" line, either).
