   i'm looking for pointers/advice on configuring/running PPP in a
really robust manner. i have it set up now, that part's not hard --
using minicom and a minicom runscript to configure the 3G modem, then
firing up pppd. none of that is rocket surgery.

but it's been a long time since i've messed with PPP so i'm
interested in whether anyone here is using it on a regular basis in a
context where it has to run reliably, automatically reconnect, and so
on.

is anyone out there currently depending on PPP running solidly
(24/7?) and willing to share advice? thanks.

Dave Skoll of Roaring Penguin here in Ottawa is the original author of the PPPOE code used all over the world. You could not have a better resource right in your back yard. Phone and try to set an appointment to interview him - he's a busy guy.
