probably the first of a number of things i'm going to crowdsource to take advantage of all the linux expertise on this list. as i've mentioned (bragged about :-) before, i was the technical editor for robert love's "linux kernel development" (3rd ed): http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Linux-Kernel-Development-Robert-Love/9780672329463-item.html?ikwid=linux+kernel+development&ikwsec=Books and even though the book is only 2 years old, things have clearly moved on in the world of the linux kernel, so in anticipation of (someday) there being an LKD4 (although robert assures me not *this* year), i want to start collecting updates and new topics for that eventual edition. i started a wiki page here: http://www.crashcourse.ca/wiki/index.php/Updates_to_LKD3 that i need to get back to, and i'm particularly interested in what would be new kernel features added within the last couple years that definitely should be covered in such a book that aren't there now. example: threaded interrupt handlers. currently not covered, but definitely something that should be mentioned. another source for topics like this is the kernel newbies "changes" page: http://kernelnewbies.org/LinuxChanges anyway, while i'm working on this, i'm open to suggestions. doesn't need to get into detail, just a simple topic mention that i can add to a list. thoughts? rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P.
