I have never user Beamer but I do know that Beamer is supported by Lyx. I have however used Lyx for presentations and I can say that it has all the advantages (and probably disadvantages) of using Lyx instead of Latex. If you want to use Beamer I suggest you give Lyx/Beamer a try. I should point out that I found doing presentations with Lyx slower than would be possible using a package for creating presentations.
