If it's an Android phone, my understanding is the best you can do is cyanogen mod. The missus has an Android phone, and I _want_ to install the mod, but she won't let me neAr the thing. 

OpenVPN ( or an android catered mod) is a standard package. Instructions should be easy to come by.
