I'm so old that I remember when OCLUG was just a small group of 
like-minded individuals who got together on a regular basis to discuss 
their new Operating System, and didn't have formal presentations or an 
"Executive", or a "Charter". It was a lot of fun.
I don't program the kernel (not nearly that bright), and I'm not in 
downtown, (I avoid it whenever possible), so I won't be part of it, but I 
_do_ hope your idea takes root and flourishes.
