OK, let's see if there is interest.

Would you be willing to organize such an effort?
Sure, the biggest issue is finding enough people to man cameras. I
don't want to miss certain events/talks and I've previously filmed
some of OLS 2006 with a tripod, including keynote and ceremonies.
So the footage does exist, it's just not exhaustive/full coverage
and some times was a while in before the filming started, which
isn't ideal.
Another question is are there any audio/mic recording provisions
being made? I know at least one year in the past this was done.
So I wouldn't mind talking with the people who did that.
One suggestion I had in the past is to sync audio/video recordings
by having someone clap loudly/make a discernible sync-signal tone
before the talk begins. That way audio feeds can be recorded
independently of camera audio-track which gives better quality
unless the two are hooked in together to begin with.
Can we please post something to website asking for volunteers who
want to help with A/V in addition to myself? Or just find enough
people locally who can lend equipment/volunteer there time during
the events

Thanks..
