If you are a KDE fan (I am) than the KDE PIM, Kontact works very well.
Good search and good import/output and of course is more than email. I
have tried Evolution, Sylpheed, and a number of others. Except for
cross-platform, Kontact is on top from my perspective. I have run it on
Mandriva and currently on Gentoo.
