Well I tried the live releases: Suse, Morphix and Ubuntu and they all
have failed to get scotia bank to work properly. I thought it might be
my firewall as my Suse 9.2 on amd64 has about 100 rules but the lesser
machine running Fedora5 has no rules at all. We are all behind the RH6.1
firewall. Now there was another distro called Damn Small Linux which
needed burning to a CD and when I booted up I noticed a 2.4.## kernel
and when I accessed scotia online my problem disappeared. So there is
something in the newer 2.6.## kernels that is preventing proper access
to Scotia Bank. Linux amd64 2.6.8-24.20 is my current Suse version that
doesn't work and after attempting access with Mozilla the other day I
did dmesg and came up with these messages:
Jul 21 23:33:23 amd64 kernel: SFW2-OUT-ERROR IN= OUT=eth0

This looks like iptables output but the meaning is beyond me. Make sense
to you? At the time the DST=204.101.113.100 seemed to point to verizon
but not now. Changing IPs on the fly?
Eric from home on my amd64.
Have you tried fiddling with the MTU settings?
Erik.

Did you ever get a solution to this problem? I have an AMD 64 with Suse
and the problem started when I upgraded from 9.1 to 9.2. It hangs after
we log in and try to pay bills or get account info. We didn't have this
problem with 9.0 or 9.1. I have a second machine (AMD Duron) which I
experiment with other distributions and Debian 3.1 (Sarge) worked fine
then I got Fedora 5 out of a magazine last month and the problem in now
occuring on this secondary machine to my wife's consternation. I think
it might have something to do with the security settings but it is
difficult to tell. It seems to be the newer distributions.

I've been using Mozilla under Windows to access Scotiabank and it seems
to work fine. I can't imagine why the OS would matter. I haven't tried
it under the Linux box here - it has no monitor, and I don't feel like
fiddling with VNC or XWindows...
