Re: Re: data center

 Data Centre Level
Compute facilities need to be installed in Canada, managed by Canadians, run by Canadian software (where possible), powered by Canadian electricity.  Any Canada-wide >>cloud<< should have a SINGLE firewall controlling all traffic into and out of Canada, or a separate firewall processing independantly packets for each category of
* Adversarial Nations (aka China, Russia, Iran)* Friendly Nations (EU, UK, etc.)* Status Under Review (of promotion or demotion) (U.S., Israel, etc.)

Hardware Level
Since Canada >>had<< fab capability for chips, with each of Nortel, Newbridge, SR Telecom, JDS Uniphase, etc. don't we have capability in Canada to quickly deploy a factory for RISC-V based chipsets to build our own computers?
If not, couldn't Canada come up with its own computer chipset and work thru Infineon Technologies (German) to produce a chipset that would eliminate the reliance on US based tech?

My two cents worth.

Yes, sure.  But all modern Intel and AMD processors contains a separate
management engine that is always running, whose firmware is
closed-source and that can have complete control over your hardware,
so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(I hope, since it seems the data centre will be used by CSE, that the
servers will be running Linux...)
