I started working with unix in the early 80s. I found clicking commands
needlessly silly since i could do anything i wanted in a few keystrokes.
But I now recognize that Microsoft has done a lot to provide numerous
features to the non-technical.
I now use linux on my servers, where most of my needs are repetitive,
but windows on my personal machine for everything else.
Building a system like windowa, that covers so many bases is a massive
job. Building a new Windows for a small audience is prohibitive.
I think we have to accept Windows, and its associated products, for the
mainstream users, but use linux-based systems for internal systems.

I think the author is way too optimistic, but I'm glad people are
thinking and writing about this. Now all we need to do is get them to
act.
