My only worry with used phones is the battery

Good point. My main concern too, plus any scratches.
There's a guide on Best Buy on how battery condition ranks in the
"Excellent" to "Fair" range, plus how scratches & scuffs are graded.
First phone I thought was Good, but was Fair. No issues at all.
Second phone was Fair, so in calling the seller directly, I spoke to a
nice guy who helped me out and I got one with no visible scratches or
scuffs and battery has been fine.
I did look into how easily batteries can be replaced on the model I
wanted prior to purchase, but I forgot what it said.
Certainly it rated better than the Pixel 4a that it replaced - those are
likely to break the screen when replacing the battery! Terrible design.
My strategy changed from new "A" models to older Pro models - why not
get all the features from 2 years ago for the price of a new "A" - is my
new thinking.
Hopefully your new phone will last though, 'cause ewaste is a blight.
