Since I don't want a single cent of my money to go to Google,

Likewise!

I won't buy a Pixel phone.

I bought a couple Pixel 8 Pro phones from the "Reconditioned" section of Best Buy.

They've been great, and not a penny to Google. In fact, the second time I contacted Gizmodo (the reseller) directly and bought straight from them, so Best Buy didn't get a cent either.

I paid $300 for a Pixel 8 Pro in "fair" condition back in May; they're now $400+, so timing was good. Phone is flawless, put it in a Liquid Silicone case for $8 (eBay) and it's a fantastic combo. Got a similar case from Ali Express for $1.50 but it's not as soft & grippy as the real Liquid Silicone.

Of course, dBrand from Toronto probably have the best cases.

Just heard about https://pelacase.ca/, a Canadian company making cases from recycled materials. A worthy cause...

Those phone + case options, plus GrapheneOS is probably the best Canadian solution right now IMHO.

(I have not tried GrapheneOS yet.)
