Is anyone else here using the born-in-Toronto, secure, and privacy
protecting FLOSS grapheneos.org phone OS?
I've been very satisfied using it for 3 years. I primarily use FLOSS
apps on it, except for CBC listen, which does not require me to install
google play services to work. All my FLOSS apps use self-hosted services
including imap email and davcal calendar.
I especially like using a FLOSS offline map based on OpenStreetMap. I use
OsmAnd, which is greatly detailed for cycling and walking trips. I can
record my trips/tracks and know that my very personal geolocation data
will remain 100% local to me.
The FLOSS IMAP client FairEmail is fantastic too. It's loaded
with hundreds of configuration settings, so you can make it work exactly
like you want. For Linux users who like to tinker, you'll like this.
FairEmail also works very well for multiple IMAP accounts; I have five
set up.
The Debian 13.6 VM / terminal is nice too. You can install packages into
it too.
The editor of the Centretown BUZZ newspaper who is a longtime Linux user
uses it on her phone too as a more secure OS and is very happy with it.
Anyone else using GrapheneOS? What's your experience?
