+1 for the thread
I don't mind python besides the packaging situation with venv and
different library versions with breaking API changes. But you can still
do a lot with the standard library + a few packages that won't pull in a
lot of deps like flask.
I like modern python a lot more especially with optional type checking
through mypy (or one of the other type checkers). Between like perl,
php, and python I would rather be writing python.
I love python and have worked in it for 25+ years, but I don't agree
with its evolution. It violates it's own mantra now (import this).
- Do we really need 3 ways to format strings?
- 25+ years and they're only now getting rid of the GIL?
- Consistent object orientation would be nice, so why a len() function
instead of a method?
- While I love the enforced whitespace, I am tired of responding to
genius devs who don't know how to use their editor.
- Python devs, please stop using Java as an example of how to
do...anything.
