I rather want to avoid using network, as part of the idea is "how to" recover connections
and get modems reconfigured. Some years ago, I had a Sagemcom modem that Bell would "update"
by push flashing the firmware. EXCEPT I was on NCF, so it would stop working with its "new"
bell id (and no account!). I learned how to re-enter the username and pw and a couple of other
parameters, but needed them locally. I eventually dumped the Sagemcom and favour pull updates.
So far Tug's ZIM suggestion is the leader. I tried it out and it seems to fit the bill.

Hi John,
For a simple static site, I recommend Github Pages.

If I had the same need, I'd whip up a simple Meteor App (JS NODEJS NPM) for it then deploy it on my own server.
Actually I'm actually thinking of something like that for my photos and for streaming my music.

A comment from Scott the other night reminded me that I've a set of small files in a directory tree called
HowTo that I share with my wife (and use myself!) to remember how to do different tasks, computer and
otherwise.
Any suggestions of a really simple way to make that available as a website (local, probably on one of our
machines or our Synology Diskstation).
I've looked at Hugo, Publii, Pelican and Zola, and some time ago played with Jekyll. All seem more complicated
than they need to be, and very focused on publishing on particular types of sites, or doing blog posts. I just need
the directory structure and files so that when stuff is added it shows up and we can add some notes from time
to time.
Ideas welcome.
