My location is near Woodroffe Ave. at Richmond Rd.
My ISP is *Rogers*, whom I have been with since 1984, first in London,
then in Brampton, then Kanata, then Orleans, before landing here.
I have always been on cable-based internet with a modem-based firewall
router and, beyond the major incidents that have been publicized, I have
never had a "local" issue! The older CGN2 modems allowed more control on
the firewall packet control specifications, than the current CGN3 modems.
I have considered switching to Cogeco, again looking for cable-based,
but they don't seem to serve in this area, but it would be fiber, I
believe. 🙁

I use Teksavvy over Rogers, and the problems I get, have always been
rogers based. Both Rogers and Bell tend to no longer bury their
cables, or if they do maybe a couple of inches. So lawnmower damage is
seemingly not uncommon.
My internet would tend to drop mid afternoon, turned out the cable was
old, and when the hot sun reached it, the connection dropped. The
signal was weak before that, but the sun was the straw that broke it.
I originally had a Thompson modem which I bought from Teksavvy when I
first signed up. They eventually retired the hardware, so sent me a
gratis loan Hitron CODA56. The local address of the modem is
http://192.168.100.1/ (even though that isn't my subnet at home).
The internet says your modem is on 192.168.0.1, so try pointing your
browser at that ip address.
I don't demand much of my internet connection (provide me bytes in
both directions), and most of my network problems seem related to my
router and switches being way too retro, but it does work. Just the
odd restart needed.
That said. I have had problems with jitsi meetings recently, so until
I know why that is happening, I can't not blame everyone.

You will find that Teksavvy support is great, and better than asking us.
You mentioned a low signal cable, that implies that Teksavvy is
reselling Rogers internet. The person who trouble shoots that cable
would be a Rogers contractor possibly?. The wet weather can be bad
for cable.

Good day everyone.
Trying to dump Bell here.
We only have dsl or cable.
I am trying tecksavvy but their modem (CODA 4680) is not easy to
work with and cable is due to be replaced because of a low
signal. Also the tech folk don't seem to be very knowledgable,
even about their own hardware.
At the moment I cannot access the modem on my desktop.
A router and bridge mode seems to be an option apparently.
Any alternate suggestions would be appreciated.
My machine is Arch and when availble Alex P helps me navigate
things outside my skillset.
