I checked out the site just now - alarming. They display logos for
Government of Canada
Kitchener-Waterloo Linux User Group
Vancouver Linux User Group
Rencontres Linux aux Quebec
in addition to Linux User Group Saskatchewan
along with a few corporate logos
Linux Professional Institute (was based in Canada at founding - don't know about now)
perforce (HQ in Minneapolis, Minnesota)
ciq (what's that? ... claims to be sovereign "full stack" builder;
is "founding commercial sponsor" of Rocky Linux,
HQ Reno, Nevada "Build the full stack for secure
and sovereign AI at scale")
and a couple of Linux distros:
Rocky Linux (ties to Reno Nevada HQ)
Maple Linux (??? "Maple Open Tech is a partnership between SSP Media
and Mika Software. Based in Canada, our mission is
to develop software products for the global market
that respect Canadian privacy and data sovereignty
standards.
We also maintain MaplePress – a powerful service
built on golang and Cassandra designed to increased
WordPress hosting efficiency by up to 30%." While
maple linux is hosted on codeberg rather than
github - SSP Media web site seems AI generated and
has no info on founders - none. Mika Software
similarly has no info on founders)
Did those Linux User Groups, and Gov't of Canada agree to have their
logos displayed on the site? The GoC logo links to general GoC site,
not to a particular department. Anyone know how I can follow up with
GoC on this?
