Re: Fwd: Only 15 days left to save your Meetup group, Linux User Group Saskatchewan

I looked at the site, and started forming a few opinions / rants, but will just comment on the interaction Dianne had with them. You can judge things by verifying facts (where production is vastly cheaper than validation), but also by identifying good faith interactions.

The interaction reminds me of interviewing candidates. Ask questions until the interviewee had to either acknowledge they didn't know something, make stuff up and hope, or outright lie. Dianne's interaction reminds me of those types of interviews (for people who didn't get a 2nd round)

Specifically, once their facts have been called out, they substitute "values" (committed, proud, appreciate feedback, welcome constructive criticism). Only acknowledging a single (inescapable) point, whilst ignoring the rest seems evasive, and maybe hoping they can get away with admitting the minimum.

A total lack of any relevant history of these people is strange, but their donate and sponsor buttons are boldly displayed.

I'm going with Dianne on this one.

In the process of looking into the Linux Association of Canada (in order

What situation are we looking at? The apparent loss of a meetup organizer?

Anyway, I've been having a little conversation on Mastodon with someone
from Linux Association of Canada and the responses have only made me
more suspicious of the group. Thread is here:
