Hi Brenda and All,
Thank you for your feedback, and I agree with Brenda's comment below
regarding Canadian talent. Sometimes it seems like we have the opposite
problem: we have so much talent here we don't know what to do with it
all. It gets brain-drained. Sometimes, people have to make a space for
themself, and that can be really difficult.
I have just sent some questions to the United Nations today. I'm
thinking that we could put off a talk about them and their strategy
until August, if that's okay? It sounds like Scott has a topic for
tomorrow.
Also: Happy Canada Day to All!
Sincerely,
Katie

Canada, famously, didn't attend the UN's "Open Source week", I guess
that we
as a country are lacking some talent, not really sure.
I'm not sure if it's a good fit for a talk as it's not specific to
Linux
from a policy perspective.
I would like to attend. Unfortunately it conflicts with a weekly
thing I do and this week is particularly interesting.
Re: Canada lacking talent, we absolutely do not lack talent. We all
think we lack talent, and the talent moves to the US chasing perceived
bags of money and fellow talent. The less tight-fisted VC is
perceived to be in the States.
Sincerely,
Katie
