I think I have a topic that might interest a few, if not many, of those

*Could someone outline, in detail, the steps* that would be required for
a desktop Linux user (as Root, or just default User) to perform an
*autoinstall*

* from a running desktop Host OS ...
* onto an internal virgin hard disk ...
while having "online" (meaning local) access to a Live ISO image of the
desired OS.
The intent here is to attempt to ensure my personal "business
continuity" from a chaotic situation facing UbuntuMATE.
My concept of the process is to
* run a script to pre-format the disk to my preferred, very custom,
layout ...
* install Ubuntu Server as bare bones, no "extraneous services" image ...
* install MATE Desktop and required elements to "reconstitute"
equivalence to UbuntuMATE (less application packages) ...
* run a custom script to offer checkbox selection of desired
Application suite to be installed, per user preferences ... OR ...
install specified list of Application packages.
Trying to muddle my way through all that, I've already touched on
