I've been on record for a while as saying I'd pay $3-$5/month for a social media platform that had groups, but no ads or sponsored posts, and only showed posts in reverse-chronological order. Nobody will advertise on such a platform unless they can make targeted ads, and in order to be able to target, the social media plaform has to violate your privacy six ways from Sunday.
