I would set it up as wanted, but then would check the actual connections
to the internet at large using some of the network monitoring tools. If
there is anything suspicious, block those IPs and see whether the system
still works as expected. If so, keep the blocking of those IPs. If not,
the sales rep did not know what he was talking about. Once the system is
actually properly setup, it should no more "call home" except for
software updates, if it works as advertised.

i will have to look at that more closely; the salesperson at CC
assured me that all video using that camera was strictly in-home, to
wifi router and then to my phone. when setting it up, i did not enter
any information related to cloud storage, and i am not paying any
membership fee. it's possible that you *can* use cloud storage with
this camera, but i made it clear i wanted the option to not send any
data outside my local network, and i was assured that i could set it
up that way.
