Over the years I've been especially interested in captioning (commenting) images, and have given a couple of slide presentations to the Linux group. The web directory http://web.ncf.ca/nashjc/Image-Comment/ collects some of the scripts and programs I've used and documents them in UsingJPGcmt.pdf (the R Markdown source file is present too). Comments are welcome (preferably polite!). The tools are relatively mature, but always can be improved.
