Re: setting up email server

I'm using a small (20G), low power and inexpensive VPS hosted by OVH in Montreal.

Sounds like easyweb.ca?

I'm paying them CAD $5 monthly for a VPS I use as a mail server, works quite well.

Other options have been recommended and I have nothing against them, however at this point in history, I'm trying divest from any and all American services and companies.

As others have said, email can be a PITA to run a server, but the PITA was in setting up all the moving parts - on-going maintenance is not an issue.

I *enjoy* it.

I would not try it on a residential account with any domain that matters until I had all the issues with deliverability worked out on a throw-away $5 domain first.

Speaking of email and servers, the threading on this topic has been quite weird: many individual messages, only a couple nested (threaded) messages.
