I understand that Linux offers configurable software that may be useful for this application: A group of cottage owners in Quebec intends to deploy automated video recorders to monitor a few rural roads and laneways. Each recorder will be a well-secured Internet node with storage, one or two HD cameras, motion detection, and possibly a license-plate reader. An existing commercial system has many deficiencies. It's been difficult to interest large security vendors in providing quotes for the project. If you are a surveillance pro who can help configure this and install it, or if you know someone who can, please contact Rick Soderstrom via security [ at ] lacbernard [ dot ] ca . -- Paul Hays <Paul [ dot ] Hays [ at ] cattail [ dot ] ca>
