Re: [OCLUG-Tech] anyone out there using nginx?

Hey,

It's not just the second most popular open source.. it's the second most used web server IN THE WORLD (for active sites).

It overtook IIS earlier this year: http://www.infoworld.com/t/application-servers/nginx-overtakes-microsoft-no-2-web-server-183079

You can view the stats here: http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2012/02/07/february-2012-web-server-survey.html#more-5478 (There are more IIS 'websites' but when they count active/real content sites, Nginx wins)

So yeah.. there is definitely a market but I would say your rep is behind the ball and there are already going to be a bunch of them coming out in the near future.

Cheers,
Mark

are you or anyone you know using the nginx web server,
http://nginx.com/? i ask since one of my publishing reps is trying to
decide if there's a market for a nginx book. (i'm not the person who
would be writing it, i just offered to look into the market share.)

according to that web page, it's the 2nd most popular open source
web server on the net, but that still puts it at just under 10% (which
is actually higher than i thought it would be).

so ... do you run across it during your travels?
