So, it's been more than 15 years since I worked at Magma, but when we built their first "real datacenter", they had *all* that... Now, maybe because Magma was an "ISP", they can claim it as a single internet connection? But Magma did the research to make sure they had seperate fiber rings from all of Bell, Rogers, and hydro ottawa/telcom ottawa at the time, and had redunant connections to all their upstreams too... But now that they are "primus" they might be considered another "single internet connection" again? And I can't see them selling off their redundeant genset configuration either.. During the great blackout, we kept the whole DC up and running, with internet access to multiple teir 1s... I'm not sure how they can claim they will be the only one in ottawa... Others have been doing that in Ottawa for 15 years already... I dunno, the article seems to be a lot of marketing speak... I've no doubt a DC in Kanata is viable, but heck, most of the big tech companies in Kanata have their own 10,000 sq ft datacenters already... -- Aidan Van Dyk Create like a god, aidan [ at ] highrise [ dot ] ca command like a king, http://www.highrise.ca/ work like a slave.
