given that summer is typically a slow time and i'm not sure how
seriously people take these summer meetings, i have a suggestion. i'm
in the process of writing a 2-hr tutorial for beginners on linux
kernel programming for this year's linuxcon in vancouver:

  http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/linuxcon/day

and i wouldn't mind doing a test run first. since it's supposed to be
2 hours max, that would fit nicely into a meeting evening, even though
i know i gave a kernel programming tutorial not that long ago so that
might be overly repetitive to do it at the august meeting.

if there's a venue somewhere, i'd like to give that test run
sometime in the first week of august, so if someone wants to recommend
a location that makes sense, let me know.
